Abanico is a hidden gem in Estepona. I only found it recently.

The staff here are very friendly and all the food I’ve tried here has been really tasty and at a great price.

If you fancy a change from the expensive, touristy places in the Old Town you must visit Abanico.

This restaurant is 100% recommended, with homemade food and very reasonable prices. Everything we tried was delicious; the meat was noticeably high quality and cooked to perfection, the empanadas were amazing, and the desserts were great too (we tried the chocolate cake, the cheesecake, and the dulce de leche pancake—we can’t decide which was best). The service is excellent, they take wonderful care of you, and they have a terrace in a very quiet and pleasant little square, where our dog was very happy 😊.
We liked it so much that we went back the next day, this time for takeout, and everything was perfect again 👌.

Found by accident, unfortunately, while returning from dinner at a different restaurant. We visited Abanico the next day and didn’t regret it! Homemade flavors and huge portions at very reasonable prices! And the service was wonderful.

We were looking for a nice relaxed bite to nibble at and this place popped up as a well suggested option so we walked up from the port after a morning at the markets. And what a great suggestion! We were warmly greeted by the staff and shown through to the terrace at the back which was situated in a quiet square and was lovely out of the direct sun. I think our waiter was the owner and he explained the menu, the daily specials and how the items are prepared. Definitely ask what the empanadas and specials are as they change – if they have the beef ones then you have to try them. Two of us had two empanadas, croquetas, carne y tomate and Russian salad (all tapas portions) and it left us stuffed – which was a shame as the dessert looked great! It washed down nicely with a couple of small beers and veranos, as we digested and watched the movements of a Sunday afternoon in the square. Lovely staff and chilled atmosphere, we would definitely return!
