Water parks near Estepona

Estepona

A visit to a Water Park is a great day out, especially for Children. There isn’t any Water Parks in Estepona but there are two good ones quite nearby.

With the hot weather on the Costa Del Sol Water Parks are a great way to keep cool and have some fun.

There are two really good Water Parks within an hour’s drive of Estepona.

I’ve visited both of these parks with my family and would definitely recommend them if you’re looking for a great day out.

Estepona Water Parks

AguaMijas – Mijas – Best for older children

What we like

  • Big wave pool with quite big waves
  • Around 40 minutes from Estepona
  • Lots of waterslides including some super big ones
  • The park is kept very clean

What we don’t like

  • Grassy picnic areas can lack grass
  • Can get very busy
  • Not enough ‘free’ inflatable rings

AguaMijas Water Park is in Mijas which about a 50 minute drive from Estepona

The park offers many attractions, from adrenaline-pumping water slides to more relaxed and leisurely pools, ensuring there’s something for everyone.

I’ve always enjoyed AguaMijas. It’s kept clean and the staff are friendly.

There are some grassy areas that are good for placing towels and relaxing, or you can hire a sunbed.

You can also bring your own food and drinks into the park or buy something from the various cafes and snack bars.

There is plenty of parking close to the park.

The lifeguards are real bullies. When we tell you about a rule, they approach you rudely, as if they were an authoritarian police officer. When we politely reprimanded him for his behavior, a lifeguard, without saying a word, came to our position and confronted us head-on, in the presence of a two-year-old girl and the other children in the toddler area. We had to break it up, and some security personnel came. The security personnel behaved professionally and broke up the fight without any rude gestures. One of the lifeguards (a woman) tried to attack one of us several times. All of this seems to have been recorded by the park’s security cameras. We spent the entire day in the park for the young children, who didn’t deserve to be harmed, but throughout the day we were truly frightened by the aggressive and arrogant attitude of the lifeguards, who stared defiantly at us every time we passed. When we left the park and stopped the car at the gate to load the kids, I don’t know if they were waiting for us or if we just happened to bump into them again. Two of them drove by and stared at the car (we were inside), and a third (who wasn’t even present at the initial scuffle) came up to the car window and challenged us to a fight, again with the young children in the back of the vehicle. I don’t know if this last incident is on film, but since it happened right at the gate, it probably is.
The park, in general, is very nice, but the lifeguards are real bullies with an air of self-important authority.

As always, brilliant. A great place to spend the day with the kids. Everything is very well organized, with lifeguards attentive to everything, staff constantly cleaning, food and candy stands, umbrellas (both free and paid), activities like Zumba in the pool, and, of course, the water slides, which cater to all tastes, all very good.

Plenty to do with short wait times on most slides. Some wait times were very long. Staff not keen on English speakers even when attempting Spanish. Disgraceful they charge for loungers when the prices are already high.

Never been to a waterpark before but won’t be rushing back.
Arrived first thing but still had to queue more than we got to go on rides. Spent 2.5 hours here and only got on 5 rides.

Very hot and not much shade so recommend :
– Bring your own snacks and water
– Water shoes (you can’t take flip flops on rides and nowhere to leave them. Ground too hot not to wear them).
– Buy tickets online (don’t need to queue to get in
– Wear goggles with tinted lenses for sun protection
– Lockers are €10 for the day if you need one big enough to take a rucksack

Bahia Park – Algeciras – Best for younger children

What we like

  • Very well-maintained park
  • Lots of good rides with plenty for younger children
  • Less than 40 minutes from Estepona
  • It wasn’t too busy when we went so no queues!

What we don’t like

  • Free picnic area is hidden away
  • The life guards can be a bit strict

Bahia Park in Algeciras is probably my favorite water park near Estepona.

I think the slides and attractions are more suited to younger children which suits me perfectly, as my two children aren’t really up for the massive, super-fast slides.

Bahia Park has a selection of water slides, a wave pool, children play areas, a zip line and a lazy river.

There are plenty of sunbeds at Bahia Park but you do have to pay extra for them.

There is a free picnic area, but it’s tucked away and not in a great location for accessing everything in the park.

You can bring your own food or buy refreshments from one of the snack bars or restaurants within the park.

We went to Bahia Park recently and had a really good time.

Highly recommended.

This is basically a water park that works like all other water parks do: you’re chiefly paying to be allowed to wait and queue and wait. 90 % of the time is spent for waiting for the remaining 10 % to be filled with laughter, jest and happiness. Which is why this water park, like any other water park, works as an allegory of post-modern life itself.

I’m not one to complain but Bahia Park is a disgrace.

Number 1: They have people dressed up as dinosaurs, which is all lovely and all until they are violently smacking people in the face. I saw 2 children being smacked and a lady.
The security guards who were watching over the dinosaur did not do anything even after seeing the lady in physical pain.

That is NOT acceptable for a so called “family friendly water park”.

Number 2: A worker was snatching a women’s phone from out of her hands claiming she was taking a video of her. This worker was then getting other security guards involved saying how this women was crazy. The lady was then being smacked by a man who was slapping her on the arm with the cap.

This is disgusting behaviour. No one should ever be physically hurt and infront of children what are they thinking ??

Number 3: When my family and I were leaving after a horrid trip to Bahia Waterpark we were then locked in due to the guards closing the gates and screaming at the lady. Thanks to this we missed our dinner reservation as we had a very tight schedule that day.

Number 4: You will end up being scammed. If you ever think of going here which I would not recommend to do after such a horrid day you will end up spending an obscene amount of money on floats and an umbrella. Why should I have to pay just to not get skin cancer.

Would not recommend to come here it was a horrid place. Majority of staff are disgustingly horrid. Come here if you want to get treated like a piece of dirt.

We went for a day trip on August 7th. Everything was fine until I had a confrontation with the manager (I assume he was the manager, given the manner).
I have three children: 13, 9, and 6. My youngest, who is 6, is autistic and needs constant supervision. I take care of that, but when she needs to go to the bathroom, my 13-year-old son takes care of it.
The thing is, we were in the children’s area, where only adults are allowed to accompany children. Everything was fine until I told my son to watch his sister when she went to the bathroom. It wasn’t even 5 minutes before I came out and saw this nervous man telling my son he couldn’t be in the children’s area. My son explained that I had gone to the bathroom, that his sister is autistic and can’t be alone.
This man was pacing around, nervous. I arrived and said, “I’m the mother, what’s the problem?” He tells me that the 13-year-old can’t be accompanying my autistic daughter. I explain the situation, and his response is that he doesn’t care, that they’re just rules. I tell him that the rules have exceptions, that she’s a child with a disability, and that it wasn’t more than 5 minutes.
He tells me that if 40 more children my son’s age come to the children’s area, he doesn’t have to allow it. I tell him that I highly doubted there would be 40 autistic children, all in the care of their older brother while their mother goes to the bathroom. He tells me that he doesn’t care, that the rules are there to be followed, and that’s all he could say.
I told him that we need to be more empathetic and inclusive, that I’ve never had any problems leaving my son in charge of his sister to go to the bathroom anywhere.
My 13-year-old son paid his entrance fee as an adult. I don’t think it’s a problem for him to watch his sister, since he didn’t use the children’s area, he just watched her. And in these times, where there’s an increasing need for empathy, inclusion, and helping one another, I think this should be addressed.
Thank you.

We had a lovely time there. You can find slices from very little ones to quet high. The food nice I think is a bit expensive but you can take sandwiches with you. 😊 They even had entertainment for the little ones with super Mario! Is a tiny bit cheaper to buy ticket online but must be minimum a day before.
