I visited Bardo just one week after they had opened and I think they were still getting used to everything.
The food was a mixed selection. We ordered tapas.
The fries were very garlicky, but in hindsight, the menu did say “A la provenzal”, which I now know means “with garlic and parsley”.
The Empanadas where ok, but a little salty and the Croquette was a bit bland.
The artichoke was delicious.
Apart from the food, I did enjoy my time at Bardo. The service was very helpful and friendly.
Bardo is in a beautiful location in Estepona Old Town, a great place to spend some time.

A lovely place to sit and spend time.

Warm welcome agreed
Slow service
A terrine of lamb that was simply a chunk of lamp – no terrine about it
Grilled vegetables that were burnt
No sauces so both meals were dry and bland
Overpriced and over reviewed!!
Disappointing all round
I hate to be the bearer of this news but I was very disappointed with this place.
Essentially it felt like a tourist trap, I’m not saying it IS one but understand the following:
The service was good, friendly staff and from what I understand female owned and run by an Argentinian family, it’s a bit off-putting to be responded to in English when we spoke catellano/Spanish to them.
The atmosphere was nice, minus cars constantly passing through the cramped outside (which the restaurant can’t help).
However the real problem was the price. If I’m paying 35€ for a main course I expect to be blown away, but it was just average, which I wouldn’t care as much if it was a third of that. Furthermore the portion sizes were small, which would be offset if it tasted amazing but again, not so.
Everything (except the Welcome bread) was disappointing. The price should reflect the quality otherwise what are we paying for? This isn’t to mention that they charge 2,50€ per person for service, as if that’s not included in the overpricing.
We tried a lot of the menu, they didn’t have my first pick.
So, the food needs much improvement, or reduce the price. We paid 140€ for two people.
We paid less than half that elsewhere another night and we’re significantly more satisfied.
When looking at other reviews it seems this place is more suited to people less familiar with Spanish, or Argentinian food.
The Food
At Bardo de La Botica, you’ll find a selection of Argentinian-inspired style Tapas
The grilled artichoke is really good!
I have to be honest and say the food wasn’t all that great. I only tried a few tapas, however.

The Location
Bardo is a wonderful location in Estepona Old Town.
There are lots of tables outside and it’s situated near the church in a quieter area of the old town.
They are open at 6pm Wednesday to Sunday.
Expect it to be busy at the weekend.
