Editors Comment

La Sureña is favourite of mine. I visit it regularly for Tapas and beer!

It’s no frills and thankfully hasn’t changed despite being in one of the most popular areas with tourists in Estepona.

The food is traditional Spanish tapas so expect to find favourites like Russian Salad, Pork in Tomato sauce and Solomillo in a paper sauce.

A great place for tapas in a classic location.

What we like

  • No Frills Tapas bar
  • Tasty tapas at a good price
  • Located on the gorgeous Plaza Flores
  • Selection of beers

What we don’t like

  • Can get very busy

We were a group of 7 people and ordered almost everything on their menu. Super tasty tapas and drinks, nice staff, a little stressed and didn’t give us much attention, but the food came quickly and we got everything we ordered, 18€ per person and as much food as we wanted..

A lovely place, in a beautiful square, with waiters who’ve at least completed three years of diplomatic training and speak a variety of languages. It’s not cheap, though; a glass of beer (which everywhere else is a third of a liter) costs €5.50. Now, when you ask for the bill, it’s €11.50 for two small beers, which seems odd. Besides abandoning good practices like offering a tapa with your drink, they’re breaking the law by charging you for something you didn’t ask for, like a small plate of five olives. You don’t complain, of course, because what’s 50 cents? Then you start to think that either the place isn’t making the expected profits or they’re part of the “Domine Cabra” brotherhood—a breed of cheap, low-class restaurants.

I want to acknowledge Iván’s professionalism.
His service was outstanding: friendly, approachable, and kind. Warm regards from some clients in the north.

Fantastic food and service. Thank you 🥂

The Food

La Sureña is a classic, no frills Tapas in a beautiful corner of Plaza de las Flores.

The classic Spanish Tapas and Montaditos (sandwiches).

One of the best Russian Salads in Estepona.

  • Tasty classic tapas
  • Ice cold beer
  • Good Cheese and Jamon
  • Hot and cold selection

If you don’t fancy Tapas be sure to check out the sandwich selection.

The Location

This tapas bar is in the shady corner of Plaza de las Flores making a comfortable spot on during the summer.

There are lots of tables outside but it’s often busy so be prepared to wait.

  • On the wonderful Plaza de las Flores
  • Inside seating for when it rains
  • Some outside heaters

? The one thing that lets La Sureña down is the toilets which could do with a bit of attention (and some toilet seats).
