I’ve been visiting La Italiana for over 15 years and it’s still one of my favorite places. It’s probably best know and most popular for it’s Ice Cream. You’ll find a great selection of Ice Cream sundaes that you won’t find anywhere else in Estepona.

La Italiana is great value. You can pick up a breakfast of toast, fresh orange juice, and a hot drink for less than €5!

Unmissable. A staple part of any visit to Estepona!

  • Good coffee
  • Fantastic value for money

It has a lot of name recognition and fame, but the ice creams are very basic, as are the coffees and pastries offered on the menu.

The restaurant’s organization is appalling. The waiters don’t attend to you, and when they finally do, it’s with a sour face, as if the service were a favor and not something we’re paying for.

Special mention goes to a short-haired waitress who circled our table at least three times, muttering and grumbling under her breath, but completely ignoring us. I raised my hand to get her attention and saw her at the bar, also with her hand raised, but talking to a colleague instead of coming over. She didn’t notice that my son had just come out of the restroom, and I heard her complaining: “Imagine that, he just sat down and she’s already raising her hand. It’s unbelievable.”

When she finally deigned to attend to us, it was all huffs and puffs, constant complaints, and zero manners: not a “hello,” not a “thank you,” not even the slightest bit of courtesy. The service was terrible from beginning to end.

It’s a shame because I go every time I’m down to the coast, but the customer service is getting worse and worse. There’s a clear lack of staff, as this morning she was the only one serving the entire terrace. They need more staff, more enthusiasm, and above all, more respect when speaking to customers.

A smile costs nothing. She had her eyebrows furrowed, as if they were held down with clothespins. She’s paid to serve, not to make customers feel uncomfortable. If she doesn’t like her job, she shouldn’t take it out on the people who actually come to eat, spend their money, and relax.

I won’t be back until they change their attitude. It’s appalling.

Honestly, if you’re Spanish and want to have a coffee and breakfast on a random Friday to relax and enjoy the weekend, I recommend you don’t come to this place.

Three years ago, the Italiana experience was wonderful. Ice cream, fast service, delicious coffee.

But my partner and I went this morning for breakfast, and I, at least, was quite annoyed. To begin with, there weren’t enough customers to justify making us wait. We waited five minutes for the menu and another 15 minutes to be served. Finally, I noticed that about six tables of foreign families (no exaggeration) who arrived after us already had their coffees, desserts, and breakfasts on their tables.

For me, this was a complete lack of respect. It’s as if priority is given only to one type of clientele, and it seems that in this case, it’s foreigners or “tourists.”

I’ve never left this type of review in other restaurants where the situation has been exactly the same, but as a customer, I’m fed up with seeing this treatment of locals who just want to enjoy a coffee or breakfast.

Do we deserve to wait? Do we have to stay silent when you serve more than five tables that arrived after us, before us? Don’t we have priority?

Apparently not. I hope this situation is resolved as soon as possible in the tourism industry, because some shouldn’t be treated better or worse than others.

The Food

La Italiana is best known for sweet things, although you will find a selection of rolls and toasted sandwiches.

Great value and generally served quickly.

If you enjoy Ice cream it’s highly recommended.

  • Good value for money
  • Ice Cream Sundae Menu
  • Cake selection
  • Good coffee (well I think so)

La Italiana isn’t the place to for dinner but for a sweet treat or a light snack, it’s perfect!

The Location

This Café is in a beautiful square in the center of estepona complete with a fountain.

There a lots of tables outside but it’s often busy, especially in the summer. You can’t reserve so patience if required.

  • Quaint square in Old Town
  • Lots of space both inside and out
  • Very easy to find

They are open from 9am in the morning for breakfast and in the summer go through to 1am in the morning for late night ice cream. ?
