Paralelo 36 is a functional bar right on the seafront. I’ve visited it a few times, but only for a drink, I’ve never tried the food here.

It does drinks well however, with a large outside seating area, a great view of the Mediterranean Sea and good service. My favorite time to visit is in the early evening as you can catch the last of the days sun and you’ll often find one of the best street performers in Estepona playing.

Great for a beachfront drink and some evening sun.

I’ve read in other reviews that the same thing happened to us. There were four of us, and we were looking for a place to have a quiet drink before heading home. Of the four of us, only one had ice cream from a nearby shop, and he was almost done with it. We were surprised when, upon sitting down, he told us we couldn’t sit down with ice cream. Absolutely stupid, considering it’s right on the seafront, and from what I’ve read, they even say this to families with children. The attitude and policy of this bar is deplorable. Enough of camouflaging these actions and rudeness with “we have ice cream too,” or, as I’ve read in responses to other comments, “we try to maintain a consistent policy with terrace service, blah blah blah,” simply excuses for the attitude of a rude and ill-tempered manager.
We won’t be back, no matter how many times they reply saying they’ll improve and take our opinions into account, when it’s clear that’s not the case. Shameful.

We waited for over 20 minutes and they didn’t serve us or even clean the table, a real disgrace. The waiters didn’t even look at us when we sat down.

I haven’t tried the food here.

It just doesn’t look like the place to eat. It’s a bar!

The Location

The location is the best thing about the place. Right on the front next to a delightful square.

There are lots of tables outside, but it’s often busy, especially in the summer. When it’s busy the service can suffer too.
