?️ There is lots of inside space at Abanico so it’s a good place to go when it’s raining.

Abanico is a hidden gem in Estepona. I only found it recently.

The staff here are very friendly and all the food I’ve tried here has been really tasty and at a great price.

If you fancy a change from the expensive, touristy places in the Old Town you must visit Abanico.

Great spot outside the old town. Went there looking for something with a more local feel and it did not disappoint. Owner was very friendly and provided great service and the food was very good. We will definitely return.

I really wanted to love this place and had high expectations, but overall the experience was just average. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great either.

The service was excellent, very kind and attentive staff. One suggestion for the owners: when clearing unused plates from the table, it would be better not to place them back on the stack of clean plates. Even if they haven’t been used, they may have been touched or exposed, and unused doesn’t necessarily mean clean.

The empanadas were very tasty, but the rest of the dishes we tried were just okay. Prices are reasonable, neither particularly cheap nor expensive.

The Food

I love the tapas at Abanico.

They’re really great value and super tasty.

They also offer a few different dishes that you don’t find in many other places.

  • Good value for money
  • Tasty tapas
  • Full plates available
  • You get bread and olives everytime!

Be sure to try the stuffed mushroom!

The Location

Abanico is just outside the old town close to the Ayuntamiento.

It’s on a lovely quiet square and they have tables inside and out.

  • Situatred on a lovely square – perfect for children to play on.
  • Lots of space both inside and out
  • A short walk from the old town and the beach.

They are open everyday apart from Wednesday. On Monday’s and Tuesday’s they are only open for lunch.
