Our second dinner in Estepona, and our second restaurant chosen based on the recommendations of the El Pilar Hotel where we stayed. It’s a medium-high-end restaurant with an extensive seafood menu and quality food. We had scurpinas, large clams, peregrina scallops, concha fina, red prawns, clam and cod tortitas, and a centollo, a whole giant crab. Everything was good to excellent, except for the tortitas, which were better elsewhere. So why four and not five? Because the service isn’t up to par with the restaurant and the prices. They forgot about the tortitas and brought them halfway through the meal, and the food arrived slowly and haphazardly. We saw them clean two sea bass for the tables next to us and were grateful we hadn’t ordered them. The four is for the quality of the food, but with service like this, it could easily be a three or two.

A welcoming place with excellent service and top-quality ingredients. It was recommended to us at the hotel and we’ll definitely be back.

The staff were incredibly rude, as if we were bothering them. Because of this, I decided to just split the fish croquettes, which came without sauce and were completely tasteless. Apparently, asking for only one item to split also annoyed them. I would never return and definitely do not recommend this place.

Thank you for your service! The meals are excellent!

The Food

The food at El Pescador is generally good.

However on some occasions I have been a little disappointed with the quality.

If you like fish and seafood by the sea then El Pescador is a great choice.

  • Large SeaFood Menu
  • Great Gambas Pil Pil
  • Paella is very popular here
  • Try the Octopus if you’re feeling adventurous

The menu is mostly fish but you will find some meat and vegetarian choices.

The Location

El Pescador is situated right down on the seafront.

If you sit outside you can enjoy views on the beach and the sea as well as soaking up the atmosphere of people strolling the paseo.

  • Views of the beach and the sea
  • Lots of outside tables
  • Very easy to find

In summer you will need to reserve a table. During the winter El Pescador is a good choice as they have plenty of inside tables.
