Editors Comment

I’ve been to La Cocina a number of times and always enjoyed it.

It’s made up of a full restaurant and a tapas bar, both of which are good.

The food is of high quality and the service is always welcoming and friendly.

Outside the tapas bar on the weekend, you can sometimes find a flamenco guitarist and singer, which are amazing to experience.

If you visit the tapas bar you must try the fried olives. They’re delicious!

A lovely restaurant that’s worth a visit. If you want something lighter than a full meal try the tapas bar.

Awful experience at this restaurant. We could have picked up the cues from the start. We sat at a table for more than 10 minutes before the person who appeared to be the maitre d slapped menu on the table without a word. We waited in excess of another 10 minutes to give our order which, despite us giving our best Spanish, was greeted with a series of grunts. We waited a long time for the tapas to arrive, and when they did the “patatas bravas” were like a half portion of McD fries. They were also cold. When asked to change them for hot ones, the waiter offered no apology.
There was a good atmosphere in the bar, with a local duo playing and people enjoying a drink, but the dining experience was the worst we have experienced in Estepona, having visited several times. I’d advise you to avoid this place for dining.

We went to a bar called La COCINA, it is located in the center of Estepona, a beautiful little corner, where we will never go again. We ordered: two half Russian salads, chicken, some croquettes, an entrecôte, fried olives and two portions of Pil Pil prawns.
In general the snack was good. Delicious entrecôte, and the salad. But the problem came when they served us the prawns. It was so scarce that we thought it was a tapa instead of the portion we had ordered. (Please look at the photo)
Very politely we called the waiter, we asked him and he answered very seriously that this was a portion, and that we did want a pot!!
Given that comment, we told what happened to two waiters who approached our table. They were kind and apologized for their inadequate response.
We will not repeat it again. It’s a shame, but there are many bars in Estepona. If you go to dinner and you don’t like something, you have the right to express your complaint as long as you say it politely, and you like to be responded to with the same pleasure. If you put a tapa and you want to call it a ration, then you change the name and that’s it. But customers are notified beforehand to avoid surprises.
