ℹ️ La Escollera gets very busy and they don’t accept reservations so make sure you arrive early. Whilst you’re waiting for a table you can get a drink and a tapas the wait is quite a pleasant experience.

?️ There is lots of inside space at La Escollera so it’s a good place for coffee, breakfast or lunch when it’s raining.

La Escollera is part of Estepona history and culture. Legend has it that the restaurant started with a small fire and a bucket of fish and as the fishermen would return to the port it was freshly prepared and cooked right off the boat.

Today, it’s a popular place to get fresh fish and seafood. Every time I’ve visited, I’ve enjoyed the experience, and the food has been excellent.

It does get very busy, and you can’t book, however, you can get a tapas and drink while you wait.

A great experience for seafood lovers.

What an authentic restaurant in Estepona! Incredible produce: fish, prawns, prawn or tuna carpaccio—the best red prawns I’ve had in a long time. If it weren’t for this, the price would be reasonable at €40. There are no reservations, so you have to wait in line for 30 minutes or more, but it’s worth it.

Siamo arrivati a piedi dal centro storico di Estepona, attraversando il bellissimo lungomare ricco di fiori e giardini. La passeggiata sul Paseo Marítimo è davvero piacevole e molto curata.
Siamo arrivati alle 20:00 e c’era già un po’ di fila, ma dopo circa 10 minuti di attesa ci siamo accomodati.
Il menù è molto vario e offre un’ampia scelta di pesce e frutti di mare. Abbiamo provato cannolicchi alla griglia, un ottimo contorno di peperoni, calamaretti alla griglia, seppia fritta, polpo fritto e capesante. Tutto molto buono e ben cucinato.
L’unica nota negativa, che ho riscontrato spesso in Spagna, è che il pesce viene servito senza essere preventivamente pulito dalle interiora.
Buon rapporto qualità-prezzo. Nel complesso, un’esperienza positiva che consiglio.

Fabulous, you have to arrive early because they don’t take reservations but the wait is worth it, variety, quality and very good service at a reasonable price.

La Escollera is the place for fresh fish and seafood that’s well prepared.

The day’s catch is on display over ice and you choose what you’d like.

If you’re not into fish then La Escollera is probably not the restaurant for you.

The Location

La Escollera is located in the port right next to the fish market,

Outside the front of the restaurant are tables for when you’re waiting and lots of seating is inside.

At the rear is outside terrace seating with views of the sea.

We had read about this place in a guide book, but didn’t know exactly where it was in the marina. However, we persevered and eventually came across it far away from all the other restaurants.

Although it was obviously a busy lunchtime, we were lucky enough to grab a table out front fairly quickly.

We browsed the extensive menu and were helpfully guided by our lovely waitress in making our choice of pilpil prawns, calamari and fresh grilled sardines. Wow, everything arrived piping hot and in a very short time considering how busy they were. Fantastic fish at fabulous prices. If you love fresh fish and seafood then there’s only one place to go in Estepona, here.
