?️ There is some inside space at EL Patio so it’s a good place for lunch or dinner when it’s raining. You might have to site at the bar though.

El Patio recently moved from their location behind Plaza Antonia Guerrero (egg square) to a new, much bigger location down a side street just off Calle Terraza. It’s always been popular and I’ve wanted to go many times but without success because it was always so busy! Now it seems easier to get a table (or barrel)
When I visited, i found the service very helpful and the tapas and other dishes delicious at a good price. And the new location makes it feel slighlty secret and special.
I can’t wait to go back.
Great vibe and great food tucked down a side street in the heart of Estepona. You must try it!

The patatas bravas were well done: thickly cut, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The flavor was very pleasant, although the sauce was a bit skimpy; a little more would have greatly enhanced the dish.
The oxtail croquettes were particularly outstanding: juicy, with a deep and well-integrated flavor, and perfectly fried. They were every bit as good as the cocido croquettes; in fact, they surpassed them in texture and intensity.
The pelegrinas were a great choice. Very tasty, cooked to perfection, and the garlicky oil that accompanied them was truly delicious, balanced and aromatic, without overpowering the seafood flavor.
The tortilla montaditos were simple but good, both in size and in the proportion of bread to filling.
The fried cuttlefish was delicious and perfectly fried, tender with a light coating, although the portion felt a bit small for €9.
The artichoke toast fell a little short on flavor: the Roquefort cheese was so mild it barely added any character to the dish. With a touch more intensity, it would have been a more well-rounded meal.
The chocolate dessert was a hit: the sponge cake was light and fluffy with a very well-achieved chocolate flavor, accompanied by ice cream that balanced everything nicely.
As suggestions for improvement: it would be advisable to be more generous with the sauces on the plates, as they are quite small, and having a wine list would help diners choose better and enjoy their meal more.
Overall, a pleasant experience, with dishes that have a solid foundation and room to shine even brighter with a few adjustments. In terms of value for money and quantity, the overall offering is good. I think that with a few tweaks, the menu would be even better.
The Food
I like the Tapas at EL Patio, but they also have some large fish dishes, casseroles, and sandwiches.
The food here isn’t fussy, it’s traditional, comforting, and full of heart. Every dish feels like it was made to be shared.
If you want Spanish Tapas you’ll love EL Patio.
The Location
El Patio is now on Calle Pintado, a quiet side street right in the centre of Estepona Old Town.
They have tables and barrels outside in the quaint street and even more space inside, with air conditioning.
They are open for lunch from 12 to 4pm and for dinner from 8pm until midnight. They’re closed on Monday’s and Tuesdays.
