El Capote is well worth a visit. Situated by the ancient castle it’s just a few steps from the main tourist area around Plaza de las Flores but is much more peaceful.

This place is popular with locals and the authentic Spanish tapas selection is tasty and not expensive.

If you’re looking for something a bit different be sure to try the Taco made from a Tortillita de Gambas – it’s a bit greasy but delicious!

We went to eat at Meson el Capote in Estepona and were delighted. The food was delicious and the atmosphere very pleasant. Special mention to the waiter who served us, always attentive, friendly, and professional. A 10!

The Food

Expect to find traditional Spanish tapas like Ensaladilla Rusa, Albondigas (meatballs), Carne con Tomate, and Croquetes.

They also have some more unique things like their Taco made from Tortilla de Gambas.

You’ll find El Capote behind Estepona Castle.

A quick way to get there is to go up the hill on Calle Viento from Calle Real.

  • Quiet location in the old town
  • In the center of Estepona
  • Lots of space both inside and out
  • Very easy to get to

They are open everyday from 5pm except on Tuesdays.
