Things to do with Children in Estepona

Estepona

As a parent I know that giving children fun activities to do is important. Estepona offers lots things for kids including beaches, playgrounds, parks and indoor activities.

Estepona is great for families.

Good weather, beaches, parks, and playgrounds make it an ideal place for children.

There are also things to do with them when the weather isn’t so good too!

Here’s some of the things I’ve done with my children in Estepona that they love

Play at a playground or park
Go to one of Estepona’s Beaches

Take a bike ride or walk

Best Kids’ Activities in Estepona

Play at one of Estepona’s Playgrounds & Parks

Estepona has lots of playgrounds and parks for children to enjoy.

Expect to find swings, roundabouts, climbing frames, and more. 🙂

Paseo Maritimo

The playground on the Paseo is the best in Estepona – if not Spain!

Loaded with play equpment including swings, lides, climbing frames, trampolines and more your children will have a wonderful time.

It’s the number one choice for my kids for a number of reasons including:

  • Lots of play equipment
  • Covered by sails that provide good shade
  • Lots of benches and seats for the adults
  • Views of the sea and beach
  • Central location
  • Equipment for disabled children

Chess Square (Plaza del Ajedrez)

Plaza del Ajedrez is a large square with a chess theme.

It has large open spaces where children can play along with some playground equipment including a recently installed ‘pirate chip’ equipped with slide.

Around the corner towards Av. Andalucia, you’ll also find some more equipment, including some swings.

Parque Del Calvario

Parque Del Calvario is a delightful park in Estepona. Here you’ll not only find some playground equipment but also waterfalls and open space.

It also has some interesting wildlife that your children will enjoy tracking down, including Turtles, Guinea Pigs, and Rabbits.

Parque Central

Just off Av. Juan Carlos you’ll find Parque Central.

A picturesque park right in the center of town. It doesn’t offer that much play equipment but it does have a large fountain and lots of plants.

A nice place to spend some time.

Bonus: The steps with slide!

In the old town, just off Calle Portada, you’ll find one of Esteponas’s unique features—a slide hidden in a pretty passageway.

Your kids will love sliding down and then climbing back up.

There is a bench for the adults and a water fountain too.

For more playgrounds, we have a complete article that’s updated regularly as we discover more.

Go to one of Estepona’s Beaches

Playa La Rada

Playa La Rada is the main beach in Estepona.

It’s around 2km long so there is plenty of room for everyone.

The sand is a little dark, and it can be stony in places, but don’t let that put you off.

It’s cleaned every morning and has showers, so you can rinse off when you leave.

It’s a great place to spend time with the kids.

You’ll also find lots of Chirnguitos is you get hungry or need a drink.

If you visit and you like it, maybe you’d like to buy a t-shirt 😊.

Playa Del Cristo

This beach is one of the best in Estepona.

Situated in a small bay, the waters are clear, warm, and shallow, making it perfect for younger children.

The sand is slightly finer than on La Rada but sometimes this beach does suffer with a bit of seaweed.

There are two Chiringuitos on this beach, which makes it a great place to have lunch.

Cristo Beach is very popular, so I’d recommend you arrive early to get a good spot

Be sure to take a look at our Cristo Beach T-shirt.

Playa del Ángel

This beach is a little out of town along the Senda Litoral coastal path.

It’s a little rocky but the water is clear and usually quite calm here.

Its main benefit is that it doesn’t get busy as La Rada or Cristo.

Bloqueria is an air-conditioned space full of lego!

Your kids will love it! They have loads of complete sets to play with along with tons of more general bricks so children can get creative.

You pay by the hour for entry and discounts are available when buying in bulk.

It’s a great place to go when it’s too hot or raining.

You can drop the kids of here and they’ll be in good hands whilst you get some quality adult time. 🙂 🍺

Super Jump is a great place for kids’ birthday parties or to spend time and burn off some energy.

This air-conditioned unit is packed full of trampolines that both children and adults a-like can bounce on.

You’ll also find a cafe bar, an outside terrace, and plenty of parking.

Explore different worlds without leaving Estepona.

This fully-equipped virtual reality center will transport your kids into games, simulations, and movies.

Fully air-conditioned so a comfortable place to spend some time regardless of the weather.

Take a Bike Ride or a Walk

Going out on a bike or walking is a great way to get out of town for a bit and enjoy the wonderful surrounding areas.

I’ve listed two of my favorites below; however, there are loads more places for you to explore. Check them out on the AllTrails website.

The Senda Litoral

The Senda Litoral is 200km coastal path that passes wonderful beaches, chiringuitos and towns including Estepona.

Both directions from Estepona are beautiful, so be sure to try them both.

Sierra Bermeja

The Sierra Bermeja Natural Park is a beautiful location to take a walk or hike. There are a number of different hiking trails to choose from depending on how difficult you like your walks.

You can walk up from the town, however it’s quite a long way.

Your best option is to travel by car to the resting point and start from there.
