ℹ️ La Escollera gets very busy and they don’t accept reservations so make sure you arrive early. Whilst you’re waiting for a table you can get a drink and a tapas the wait is quite a pleasant experience.
🌧️ There is lots of inside space at La Escollera so it’s a good place for coffee, breakfast or lunch when it’s raining.

La Escollera is part of Estepona history and culture. Legend has it that the restaurant started with a small fire and a bucket of fish and as the fishermen would return to the port it was freshly prepared and cooked right off the boat.
Today, it’s a popular place to get fresh fish and seafood. Every time I’ve visited, I’ve enjoyed the experience, and the food has been excellent.
It does get very busy, and you can’t book, however, you can get a tapas and drink while you wait.
A great experience for seafood lovers.

Today we were in such a truly iconic place. According to TripAdvisor users, the restaurant is no. 1 in the area and I agree with them 🙂
In the fishing port, close to the fancy marina where there are dozens of restaurants, there is La Escollera – a local restaurant with fish and seafood straight from the boats 🙂
The atmosphere and taste are unique, and what’s more, there is a Polish accent – we had read about it earlier in the reviews of Poles who were delighted with the restaurant. The waitress Justyna is the soul of this place, loved by customers. Hospitable and smiling, she welcomed us with extra Polish hospitality 🙂
Update 2025:
Nothing changes, it’s still the best and Justyna is still the best too 😍
The Food
La Escollera is the place for fresh fish and seafood that’s well prepared.
The day’s catch is on display over ice and you choose what you’d like.
If you’re not into fish then La Escollera is probably not the restaurant for you.

The Location
La Escollera is located in the port right next to the fish market,
Outside the front of the restaurant are tables for when you’re waiting and lots of seating is inside.
At the rear is outside terrace seating with views of the sea.
They are open for every day apart from Monday.
