I really like El Descaro and have eaten here many times. The food is good and is alway presented well. They offer lots of tapas and some bigger plates too. Las Costillas (Ribs) are particularly good!

ℹ️ El Descaro opening hours are dependant on the weather. On a sunny day it’s a great place to site outside and enjoy the food and drinks however if the weather is bad they may not be open.

🌧️ There is some inside space at El Descaro however they will probably be closed if the weather is bad.

El Descaro is one of my favorites and I visit it regularly.

I especially enjoy the tapas which are a little bit different from the usual things you’ll find in Estepona – it’s a good place to go if you fancy a change from La Sureña.

Set on the beautiful Plaza de las Flores it’s a very pleasant place to spend time although the tables and chairs could be spaced out a little more.

Martin the head waiter is always friendly and helpful when I visit.

Location is wonderful, service is bad and our €14 Caesar salad was a joke, unfortunately. It had a bit of green salad, about 20 grams of fried chicken and three cherry tomatoes. We thought we had ordered a tapas sized salad at first, but no, the staff confirmed that this 10cm x 5cm salad was indeed €14. Staff seemed offended when we questioned the size and lack of classic Caesar salad ingredients. Would not recommend anyone to come here.

Overpriced food.
The ordered burrata salad had MOZARELLA, NOT burata. Even a child had seen it. There was also poorly with salad. Cost €13.50. Embarrassingly bad!

We used to eat very good tapas there and it was a very pleasant and well located place.

In 2025: the food is no longer good and the prices are really too expensive.
There is a problem with the quality and quantity of tapas and some drinks.

The Coke is served in a small 200ml bottle and costs almost €3: it’s ridiculous!

The tapas are tasteless, dry, small and lukewarm.
I recommend other places on the same square where you eat better!!!

The Food

The food at El Descaro is very good. It’s always well presented and tastes good too.

Prices are fairly expensive, but you are on the main square in Estepona.

The Location

Situated on one of the best squares in Estepona El Descaro is a delightful place to spend time when the weather is fine.

They have a lot of tables in the middle of the square, probably too many in my opinion as it can feel a little squashed.

Be prepared for some music too as it’s a very popular place for buskers to perform.
